Howard University’s 150th Commencement Convocation

The Convocation is for all candidates having completed their degree and financial requirements as of Summer 2017, December 2017, and May 2018. Members of the graduating class should plan to assemble in Greene Stadium. Please arrive no earlier than 7:00 a.m., but not later than 7:30 a.m. All graduates should assemble with their respective School or College. The processional will begin at 8:30 a.m.; the Convocation will begin at 10:00 a.m.

Commencement DVD orders

DVDs of the Commencement Convocation are available for purchase. Fill out and return an order form to complete purchase.

Guest seating

Seating for all categories of tickets (VIP, Accesible seating, President's Guest, Reserved, and General) will be accommodated on the Main Yard.Please be advised that non-ticketed guests will now be required to view the Commencement Convocation from simulcast viewing locations across campus. Seating at the satellite locations will be based on a first-come, first-served basis, and do not require a ticket. There is limited seating capacity, so we encourage all visitors to arrive early.

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Accommodations

Guests who require ADA accommodations can be dropped off at the top of 6th & Howard Place. Guests with disabilities who are driving can park at the Howard University Hospital garage located behind the hospital on V street between 4th & 5th Street NW. The Howard University shuttle will transport anyone with disabilities to Georgia Ave. & Girard Street.

Traffic controllers will be onsite to assist anyone with directions and to help identify parking lot locations. If any guests have Howard-issued disability parking permits, they will be allowed to park in Minor Lot or the School of Business Lot. It is recommended that hearing-impaired individuals who do not have a disability parking permit park in one of the Howard University designated lots and ride the nearest Howard University shuttle to the Main Yard.

Broadcast arrangements

Commencement will be livestreamed over WHUR-FM Radio 96.3 MHz and WHUT-TV, Channel 32 beginning with a pre-show at 9:30 a.m. followed by the actual Commencement from 10:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
